AD WATCH: Brand Confusion
Is it just me, or when you read ad this quickly, do you read it as: “iMacâ€? Only the letter P stands in the way. Considering that this campaign for Windows rips off Apple’s highly successful, “I’m a Mac†campaign, this is dangerous ground to be treading on. Windows trying to claim it’s the creative computing platform? I don’t think so.
WAKE UP CALL: It’s not wise creative strategy to appropriate your competitor’s campaign, especially when the competitor’s entire brand has been built around this position. Make sure your ads convey your unique offering.
